Pushpa put up a record opening day which was just marginally ahead of Jawan by around 1 crore nett but now the film has a set a weekend record where the gap is much more. The film has set a new benchmark of 185 crore nett in 3 days and this is around 10 crore nett ahead of the previous record holder Jawan.

The number has also come with no holiday support whatsoever. Jawan had a holiday for Janmashtami which is not a huge holiday but still a holiday. The films that have clocked up over 100 crore nett weekends this year Stree 2, Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 and Singham Again all had holiday support.  . 

The highest weekend pre pandemic was Bahubali - The Conclusion at around 127 crore nett and now with Pushpa 2 the number is 185 crore nett meaning the weekends are going towards 200 crore potential. Again its potential as there does not seem many films in Hindi cinema to hit these numbers due to the characterisation of the male lead which still is not strong enough even though now when we are three years post the pandemic. Recently big budget release Singham Again is a classic example of this.  Other big budget films like Fighter and Brahmastra are more examples.

KGF 2, Gadar 2 and now Puhspa 2 are the films to get true mass penetration post pandemic with single screens also coming on board in a big way and all have one thing in common a very relatable male character for them who is larger than life. Animal was another film but here as the character was negative so that penetration is a less compared to the above mentioned films. The top ten opening weekends for films in Hindi language are as follows.
