Pushpa 2 has smashed the records of Jawan which held the records for opening day and opening weekend before Pushpa 2. Both films had an extended four day weekend and while Jawan collected 244 crore nett Pushpa 2 has collected 261 crore nett apprx. The gap is not huge here but these numbers do not tell the whole story as they are not like for like.

The real comparison is if we take out South India as Pushpa 2 had a limited release in South due to the Telugu version dominating. Here leaving the South circuits out Pushpa 2 has a collection of 250 crore nett apprx while Jawan is 194 crore nett which is a huge difference of 56 crore nett. Jawan was also a made a south director but it was not raw and rural like Pushpa 2 which is why many of the core mass Hindi circuits will beat Jawan numbers within 10-11 days. 

The biggest blockbusters have always been rural films with a few exceptions and this trend is there this century also with Gadar, Bahubali - The Conclusion, Gadar 2, Stree 2 and now Pushpa 2. All these films expect Stree 2 ran riot in single screens also and now Pushpa 2 will do the same. Even Dangal which is the biggest original Hindi blockbuster in the multiplex era pre pandemic from the Hindi film industry is a rural film though its not larger than life.

It has been said many times here that films have to work in core India to really be huge HITS though sometimes numbers can come without really working here but the craze wont as you have to score in the heavily populated areas. These South films which becoming crazes is because of these core Hindi speaking areas. The Bahubali's and Pushpa's are what they are because of the mass Hindi circuits and original Hindi films have to start scoring here like they did in the single screens era as that is what these South films are doing. You can only become mass films if you score withe masses. The first four day comparison between Jawan and Pushpa 2 is as follows.
