Chaava scored an excellent first day with collections looking to be around 28-29 crore nett driven by Mumbai circuit and also CP Berar and Nizam / Andhra doing very well as well. Basically whichever circuits the centres of Maharashtra fall in the film has scored big. There is padding but at the end of day it is allowing for that it is an excellent first day. If it came without the padding it would have been an extraordinary.
The number has come with Valentines Day which would have also given the film a boost even though the film is not the type for couples. The film was always going to out perform in Maharashtra but the northern circuits have also done well considering the film is a historical of Maratha warrior. The main thing is that the trend is positive in these places which gives potential over the weekend.
The film is set for a strong weekend which should be enough for the film to emerge a success but the test will be Monday especially outside Mumbai circuit. It is the by far the highest opening ever for Vicky Kaushal and and its a double bonus if you can get a HIT when the character is like this as it reaches the masses and none of the younger generation has pulled of this sort of loud agressive role so far.
The other plus is the overseas business of the film which looks very good as it may get close to $1 million on the first day and that is very good for a Maharashtra based which does not show much of a love angle from the trailers. Again easily the best opening for Vicky Kaushal. Its the best Friday of the year for the film industry and now its will be about consolidating over the weekend and after.
