Chhaava is looking at a huge hold on its second Friday as it continues to dominate the box office. The collections are a little down as compared to collections on Thursday morning and early afternoon but they will make ground in the evening and it could turn out the film hardly has a drop by the end of the day.
There have not been many films to collect 20 crore nett on the second Friday but Chhaava will have a shot at that insane number. Even if it falls a little short it hardly matters much as the hold is outstanding considering the first day was around 29 crore nett. A 30-35% drop is simply incredible for a film which is doing numbers at this level.
The new release of the week was Mere Husband Ki Biwi which had nothing much going for it with a dull trailer and little face value. A little plus was probably a remake of the super hit song Gori Hai Kaliyan from 1990. The film has been released with the buy one get one free offer and the opening is low but better than what most would have expected.
The expectations are so low from these type of films and business is at an all time low that if a film like this gets in that 1.50-2 crore nett range it looks reasonable. There is a chance that this film can get in that range but if it had come without the offer then actually that could have been looked as a positive.
The issue for the film will be after the first day especially if this number has come mainly driven by the offer. The offer is said to be for the Friday only and that does help as that limited audience that there is for the film will take it up knowing it will be normal pricing over the weekend though often it does not take much to change this and the offer goes through the weekend.
