CRITERIA INDIA
1. Extended/Special appearances and delayed films are not included. Films that have a smaller release than normal are also not included as they have little chance of getting near thresholds
3. One point is give for every 10 lakhs that a film crosses the threshold. One point is taken off every 10 lakh that a film stays below the threshold. Eg Threshold 40 cr, Weekend Gross 44.50 cr means 45 points.
4. The points stay for 18 months from release date. After 18 months 5% of the points is deducted every month so after 38 months the film's value becomes zero and is not included in the chart. Films with minus values have 5% added after 18 months so their value is also zero after 38 months. If the film has a value of zero its stays as it is for the whole 38 months. An 18 month old film has less value to the current star situation but cannot also be washed away and so it is slowly petered out in the BoxOfficeIndia.Com rankings.
5. The Thresholds (Gross Figures)
2013 1st Quarter - 45.00 crore
2013 2nd Quarter - 46.00 crore
2013 3rd Quarter - 47.00 crore
2013 4th Quarter - 48.00 crore
6. The charts are updated in either the first or second week every month
CRITERIA OVERSEAS
1. Extended/Special appearances and delayed films are not included. Films that have a smaller release than normal are also not included as they have little chance of getting near thresholds.
2. Threshold figures are set at a rate which would be regarded as a good weekend for that respective time. The figures are adjusted to the nearest whole number
3. One point is give for every US $10,000 that a film crosses the threshold. One point is taken off every US $10,000 that a film stays below the threshold. Eg Threshold US $2 million, Weekend Gross US $2.5 million means 50 points.

2012 - US $2.3 million
2013 - US $2.3 million
6. The charts are updated in either the first or second week every month
CRITERIA WORLDWIDE
The points of India and Overseas are added but only 20% of Overseas points are taken for Worldwide rankings as the Overseas market is valued at around 20% of India on average. This figures will change as and if the markets change.
NOTE
This threshold system based to rank box office power can slightly favour actors who do less work than stars who have multiple releases have more chances of delivering a poor opener which delivers minus points and it will take over 3 years before the film is out of the ranking system. Release Count is the number of releases which are being used and not the total releases in last 38 months as many of those may be smaller movies, delayed movies or guest roles which are mainly used from a selling point of view of a film but with electronic media all over the public is fully aware about the film.
