The main new release Kedarnath had an ordinary opening of 15-20%. The opening was not good but its not too bad either. The film was a love story but the songs did not really make an impact which is a must for the youth to come.

The hero Sushant Rajput also does not have much of a pull which which makes music an even bigger must. It introduces Sara Ali Khan as female lead who is daughter of Amrita Singh, a popular leading lady of the eighties with films like Betaab and Mard. But this hardly makes a difference to the wider picture in terms of initial.

The director had a huge disaster with Fitoor and generally has a poor track record though films like Rock On! and Kai Po Che are seen as successful but they were mediocre successes and just in a few of metros. This film Kedarnath had a bigger canvas and looked far better than those films.

Still the film can make a impact over the weekend if it can grow as the opening day number will not be bad and it could be better than a film like Batti Gul Meter Down though has little chance of reaching the levels of Dhadak.

A good jump on Saturday could give it a good second day but will depend on the public reports. The film is likely to have best collections in Delhi NCR and the multiplexes of big cities in UP.

There was no other Hindi release and the holdover 2.0 (hindi) showed a drop in collections in the morning which is normal for the Friday morning but it should make ground in the evening and over Saturday and Sunday.
