Avengers - Endgame has taken a phenomenal bumper opening across India of 80-85%. Its the highest occupancy in recent history and it looked like these sort of occupancy levels would never been seen again as 25% is seen as good now. The occupancy of Bahubali - The Conclusion and Prem Ratan Dhan Payo was in the 70% range while Thugs Of Hindostan was in the 60-65% range and these are the films to have the highest occupancy over the last few years.

The opening of this film should break a lot of myths about screens and wide releases as its not about that but is the audience there and then building capacity from whatever you have. The main point being the first because when the audience is there then everything gets taken care of be it 2500 screens or 5000 screens. Obviously this film could have collected more if it had more screens but the point is that you do not need 4000 or 4500 screens to collect record breaking numbers. If the audience is there then it can be done on far lesser screens.

Avengers - Endgame is probably the second biggest craze to hit screens after Bahubali - The Conclusion in India over the last few years and the sad part is that neither is a Hindi film. Hindi cinema which basically ruled cinema in India until the last five years or so is now being shown by others how it should be done. The excuse here will be thats its Hollywood and its loaded with a $400 million (INR 2800 crore budget) but Bahubali - The Conclusion was not loaded with that budget and it was not Hollywood.

Its not a big deal when Avengers - Endgame or Bahubali - The Conclusion smash all India records as in reality they have a bigger market due to the South adding extra but when they beat and challenge records in the regular Hindi markets of Mumbai, Delhi UP, Punjab, CPCI Rajasthan and East then it means there is a problem with what is being made in Mumbai. It could be that two dubbed films are among the top two or top three films in all the major Hindi film circuits and even the top two lifetime grossers if Avengers - Endgame sustains its collections over the next 7-10 days.
