Shang Chi And The Legend Of Ten Rings will record the highest advance post the pandemic counting all the Hindi and English releases. India has a solid Marvel fan base which is the reason for this advance. The advance of the film is sure to cross 1.50 crore nett and could even be 2 crore nett. It has an excellent advance at all the premium multiplexes which will mean PVR chain alone having business of around 60 lakh nett before release.
The advance is not just for the bigger multiplexes as Delite cinema in Delhi will do business of over 1 lakh nett before release. It has scored a better advance then Tenet, Wonder Woman 84, Godzilla Vs Kong and Bell Bottom but it is hard to tell where the first day will go.
On the advance the film should easily cross the numbers of Bell Bottom as the advance is three times higher than Bell Bottom in terms of collections (not tickets sold) but with Hollywood releases there has been a problem with on the day collections as a lot gets baked into the advance and collections move slowly on the day. Godzilla Vs Kong managed to collect well in Tamil Nadu and Andhra on the day which led to a good final total but the Hindi markets did not move and the film could not collect in Mumbai, Delhi / UP and other circuits.
Shang Chi is looking to record the best collections post the pandemic in Delhi, Noida, Gurgaon and possibily in Kolkata as well. The film has Fast & Furious 9 for competition but that film was lagging in advance and will open a day earlier on Thursday. This film has seen a release on digital platforms across the world so in India a HD pirate version would have done the rounds and most who wanted to see woulda have seen by now.
