Thalaivii opened a poor response at the box office with very low audience counts. The film has a limited release ad the makers did not extend the window to four weeks from two for its digital premiere. If the makers were serious about any box office return the window should have been extended.
The only markets which are collecting to some extent are Delhi NCR, Punjab and Gujarat and the film has a very weak release in NCR and Punjab and wherever it released the collections were a disaster. Gujarat has a better release but also saw very dull collections. The release is also a bit better in East but again there is no response to the film.
A city like Delhi would see this film release on around 40 sites normally but it has released on around 10 cinemas only. So when you are so restricted it should mean better occupancy but that is not the case as properties that collect well like Wave Raja Garden and M2K Rohini saw very low audience counts. In realty the film had to near the allowed occupancy on such a restricted release.
The response down south for the regional versions of the film is also not good but its still better than the Hindi version.
