Chal Mera Putt 3 set a post pandemic record for Punjabi films as it collected 1.30-1.35 crore nett across India with East Punjab hitting the 1.15 crore nett mark. It beat the previous record numbers of Qismet 2 by more than 20%. These numbers came with no advance, no promotion and a trailer which was just released four days before release.
The collections could have been better in the bigger centres especially Chandigarh but the smaller centres were extraordinary and these would have went far higher if there was no 50% cap rule. The top opening day collections in East Punjab post the pandemic are as follows.
1. Chal Mera Putt 3 - 1,15,00,000
2. Qismat 2 - 93,00,000
3. Chal Mera Putt 2 - 90,00,000
4. Bell Bottom - 46,00,000
5. Puaada - 39,00,0000
Qismat 2 is a BLOCKBUSTER film as it holds rock steady collections on its second Friday. The film has now crossed the 11 crore nett and is heading to be the highest grossing Punjabi film in India post the pandemic. The film is doing record business (for a Punjabi film) in Delhi city and the second week numbers in Delhi city will be more than Bell Bottom despite a much smaller release. The collections in the PVR chain were just 20% less than the new release Chal Mera Putt 3 due to Delhi city where PVR has a huge presence.
