Sooryavanshi will bring back the release count back to normal as it heads for a release on 2200-2500 siites which will mean a release which should go to at least 4000 screens. The final count could even go to somewhere around the 4500 mark.
This will mean the biggest release for Akshay Kumar in terms of screens though cinemas may be a little less than Housefull 4 as that had two Hindi films releasing with it and although they were small it still meant some screens lost in multiplexes. 2.0 (Hindi) also had more cinemas and is the only release of Akshay Kumar to go over 4000 screens.
There have been cinemas lost over the 18 months but most cities had more than one cinema and the better collecting ones have generally survived. There are some very small centres which will have been lost but the collections there were pretty negligible which will not affect the final result by much.
In terms of screen count Sooryavanshi may well be among the top ten of all time and possibly even in the top five and this itself is a result considering the toll that the pandemic has taken on the cinema business over the last 18 months. The biggest releases of 2019 were as follows and the releases are listed in release order
Bharat
Cinemas - 2815
Screens - 4650
War (Hindi)
Cinemas - 2285
Screens - 3850
Housefull 4
Cinemas - 2545
Screens - 3900
Dabangg 3 (Hindi)
Cinemas - 2770
Screens - 4550
The final count of Sooryavanshi will be known when the film releases but it will be comparable to the big films of 2019. A screen count of 4000 plus looks there for Sooryavanshi which will be more than War and Housefull 4 and it could even get near the Bharat and Dabangg 3 levels.
