The Rajnikant starrer Annaatthe created history in Tamil Nadu as it became the highest opener of all time in the state. The film collected 24 crore nett apprx in Tamil Nadu just edging past the 23 crore odd of Sarkar released in 2018.
Its a phenomenal number coming post the pandemic and with Rajnikant who is probably not the same star he was a decade or back so but still able to top the younger stars at an age of 70. The collections of the film were not good outside the home state of Tamil Nadu as it collected 30 crore nett all India. Rajnikant films normally do well in Andhra and Karnataka but this time the film has pretty much failed there. Hindi circuits were poor barring the handful of cinemas that collect for Tamil films but that hardly lasts. The top five openers in Tamil Nadu till date are as follows.
1. Annaatthe - 24,00,00,000
2. Sarkar - 23,55,00,000
3. Bigil - 20,16,00,000
4. Kabali - 19,68,00,000
5. Master - 19,62,00,000
The all India territorial breakdown for Annaatthe is as follows.
Tamil Nadu - 24,00,00,000
Andhra Pradesh - 2,25,00,000
Karnataka - 2,75,00,000
Kerala - 75,00,000
Hindi Circuits - 40,00,000
TOTAL - 30,15,00,000
The Overseas numbers look very good for the film and could cross the $2 million mark for day one. The film is probably going to have a worldwide gross of around 50 crore on day one which is extraordinary but the final run depends on the home market market of Tamil Nadu
