The Telugu film Pushpa took a huge opening in Andhra which will probably take it to the highest opening day in India post the pandemic of over 45 crore nett in all languages. The film was also released in Hindi but there are not many takers for this type of cinema with a huge Telugu feel in Hindi markets.
There is that Pan India thing which hardly means anything but some may actually expect some numbers form these films but is very hard as North India and East India dont take to the films and actors and its mainly Maharashtra where they can get collections. The film is looking to collect around 1.25 crore nett in Hindi which is a so so collection and if it can get to 1.50 crore nett then it can be called a fair collection. This is very low collections if you believe in hype of pan India but in reality its not that bad. At the end of the day if Satyameva Jayate 2 and Chandigarh Kare Aashiqui collect 3 crore nett on day one then 1.50 crore nett here is fair. There will also be some collections from the Telugu version in the Hindi circuits.
At the beginning of the year another so called pan India film Master collected around 30 lakhs nett in Hindi including a ridiculously low 3 lakhs nett in West Bengal from 100 cinemas and this film has much done better. Pushpa looked a better film than that and the hero here also seems better but the problem is the South feel and songs which pushes the multiplex audience away. These films from the South should not release song units and other units also have to be much shorter to try and keep that South Indian touch away. If these films are really to collect then they need some branding or franchise value. This Pushpa film is supposed to be part one so if it can get some appreciation then you have a chance for the second part to collect better.
The collections of the film in Andhra are huge as Hyderabad city had clocked up 6 crore nett in advance itself and Nizam / Andhra itself could be looking at a near 40 crore nett figure. The circuits like Karnataka and Tamil Nadu are not showing too strong figures in Bangalore and Chennai. Spiderman - No Way Home is better in both these cities.
Spiderman - No Way Home has seen a drop in collections of 30-35% and most of this has come in the South circuits especially Nizam / Andhra due to Pushpa but both Mumbai and Delhi / UP held up better which is a good sign. The second day of the film should be in the 21-22 crore nett range giving it a 55 crore nett two day total. The film should gain momentum again over weekend.
