Spiderman - No Way Home is cruising to a $500 million plus worldwide opening weekend which means it may well become the biggest post pandemic worldwide grosser in just a week as the Xmas holidays start on Monday across US and Europe.
These collections are insane yet they would have been higher as Europe has been affected the new corona virus threat which would have kept some of potential audience away. This threat is likely to get bigger in the coming Xmas and New Year period but as long as cinemas stay open there is always going to be an audience for such a film.
India recorded the fifth highest opening in International markets though with Avengers Endgame it was the fourth best after United Kingdom, South Korea and Mexico which was one place better. The India business should have been 30% more if Hindi circuits were like pre pandemic and that would have meant $7 million gross instead of $5.5 million. This would have meant third place in international markets.
The South Korean box office seems to be suffering even worse than India while UK has also been hit despite huge numbers as pre pandemic it would have led the international markets by a margin. The top ten openings of Spiderman - No Way Home in overseas markets is as follows. All figures are GROSS.
1. Mexico - $9 million (INR 68 crore)
2. United Kingdom - $7.65 million (INR 57 crore)
3. Australia - $6.30 million (INR 47.50 crore)
