Gangubai Kathiawadi is heading for success which has been a rarity for the last two years. It may emerge a HIT but that is going to depend on the weekdays but what is certain at the moment is that the film is a success as it heads for solid growth of 25-30% on Saturday which would be at least a 12 crore nett day two total and that is a conservative estimate with good chances of a higher number.

Since the pandemic there are just two Hindi films which can be called genuinely successful and they are the Akshay Kumar starrers Sooryavanshi and Laxmii. The former had the box office numbers for all to see while the latter set OTT records (at that time) and dominated satellite through the lockdown and continues to do well. No doubt box office would have been good in the correct conditions with Maharashtra / Gujarat / central belts showing very good numbers. The rest have basically been rejected but with OTT its about perception so you have this love and appreciattion which all content is said to get but its all PR and talk and the industry trying to project failure as success.

It gets so bad that even a disaster like 83 whose box office failure is staring you in the face is attempted to be projected as a much loved and appreciated film. Due to what has gone over the past two years the fact that Gangubai Kathiawadi will not flop is a actually a result. It would be great if the film goes on to be a HIT and chances are there but at the moment even a success is a sight for sore eyes. 

The film has suffered with long delays and the budget has gone up and it needs a share of around 60 crore from theatres in India and Overseas to be in the black as it has 115 crore revenue from digital, satellite and music and going by the numbers in India and Overseas it will do that much on worst case. The profits like Sooryavanshi will not be huge but you take that due to the circumstances.
