Raksha Bandhan had a low first day of 7.5-8 crore nett though the film did good business in Gujarat thanks to Raksha Bandhan festivities as Gujarat normally scores on this day. The film performed poorly in places like Mumbai city, Kolkata, Pune and South as the content more for the Hindi speaking belts.
Basically the film has done worse business generally where Laal Singh Chaddha has done best and vice versa and its only Delhi NCR where both films have reasonably collections while in other places its either Raksha Bandhan or Laal Singh Chaddha.
Raksha Bandhan showed better improvement than Laal Singh Chaddha as the day progressed but this is more to do with the fact that it is doing better in the belts where Raksha Bandhan is more of a holiday. So despite better growth on the day it does not mean it will get closer to Laal Singh Chaddha tomorrow as these belts where it is more of a holiday could fall more tomorrow.
if we take expectations into account then Raksha Bandhan has probably done better than Laal Singh Chaddha and most would have have expected more of a gap between the films but in the overall scenario it hardly matters as the numbers remain low. Its just with Laal Singh Chaddha having such low collections then the collections of Raksha Bandhan become more easily acceptable.
