Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar had a fair opening considering it was Holi and collections get stronger after 3pm. The stronger movement from late afternoon onward should give it a reasonable first day number. The film ended up with pretty good advances but they lopsided towards the bigger multiplexes.
There are a few states where it is not a holiday and here its weak in Maharashtra, decent in West Bengal and Karnataka and Rajasthan looks good from Jaipur and Kota. Rajasthan could have a boost post Holi as in the morning the collections coming from here look better than most other places. Here there may not be that jump in the afternoon as Holi holiday was yesterday.
The opening of the film should actually be better considering the budget of film and Holi but a lot has changed over the last few years and its not a larger than life film with mass elements and no branding so it becomes about getting some audience to the theatres and going on from there. This much the film has done and it gives the film a good chance of working depending on how the audience likes the film.
It music of the film is a plus and its the sort of film which is liked by the youth in North and on top Ranbir Kapoor is very popular there so the best collections will be coming from the big centres of North by the end of the day.
The film is very important for the industry as if this genre can still put up big numbers it enables films of this rom - com genre still to be made. It will be an interesting few days as the film performs differently in different places and the its all about how and where it settles over the weekend
