Munjya has seen a good hold on its second Friday as it collected in the 3.25-3.50 crore nett range which takes the to 39 crore nett after eight days. It could have been higher the way it held on the weekdays but a new release and more importantly lower ticket rates could have held it back. The INR 150 rate may not be low enough get enough extra footfalls to compensate the higher business on normal pricing.
Still it is very good number for the second Friday and at many places it was actually ahead of the new release especially in Maharashtra. In fact it was mainly the bigger metros where Chandu Champion was better and that is down to being the new film.
Chandu Champion is the first major release post Eid and its like pretty much the same results as far as the initial; response is concerned as it gets a very limited turnout. The film will probably collect in the 4.25-4.50 crore nett range which is far too low for the film.
This opening day makes it tough for the film and on top the response in the core Hindi circuits is just awful. Normally Kartik Aryan films do better in the three big centres of CI but that does not even look here this time. It is not noticeable this time anyway like a Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 and even a Shehzada. It remains to be seen how the film trends and it has to be some huge trend if the film is get some respectability. Overseas also does not look much as Australia comes in below A$25.
