The new release this week was Chand Mera Dil which is a love story for the urban youth. The film does not have face value though music was decent but probably not good enough to make a huge difference to the initial of the film. The trailer showed it was mainly for the urban youth of metros which today has become a very minimal crowd for most films.
The film has been released on discounted rates as there is always a struggle to get the audience in to sample these types of films and these discounted rates should at least get enough of an audience in for the film to have a chance to work if it has merits. There is a catch also as some of that weekend audience will come on the first day for discounted rates making bigger growth for the film tougher.
The advances of the film were better than last weeks Pati Patni Aur Woh Do in terms of tickets sold but roughly the same in terms of collections so maybe the film can get similar collections though Pati Patni Aur Woh Do probably had a bigger reach in the circuits so Mumbai, Delhi, Bangalore would have to be considerably higher for Chand Mera Dil to reach the collections of Pati Patni Aur Woh Do.
The film is probably going to do somewhere in the 3-4 crore nett range which if the film had got without these discounted rates would have been decent as there would be good growth on Saturday but with these discounted rates its always a question as to where the Saturday growth lands. if the growth comes then the Friday becomes decent but if it does not come then the Friday does not really matter much.
