Peddi which is a big film from the Telugu film industry and has seen a dubbed Hindi version released has taken a dull start as far as the Hindi version goes. The film had previews in the South on Wednesday which have seen very good results but the film has a budget of 300 crore and with that sort of cost the film needs substantial Hindi support unless the Nizam / Andhra market goes out of the roof.
The Thursday release is of no help as its not a holiday or anything and on top this South bandwagon of so called pan india films is on the slide in Hindi circuits. Looking at the trailer it has that rural feel but seems very regional so that limits it to places where South dubbed films outperform but these pockets have not opened well.
Its going to be a tough ride in Hindi though what has been with the first day collection in a lot of these films from the South is that there is a lot of feeding. This tends to happen when a film does not open so feeding inflates the first day and then you see drops after. Basically the system from the South gets transferred into Hindi as well though obviously here its done in a different way.
This is not to say that Peddi has feeding but some of these dubbed films eventually come out with far higher numbers than the morning initial suggests. Just a few months back Raja Saab was one example.
