Ramayana is seeing very good advances as it hits 2 lakh by end of business on Monday for the Hindi version. There is a further 40k for regional versions. The advances started over ten days ago and it is been a lethargic pace after the first day. But this is the expected scenario when you open advances so early. More and more screens have been opened up slowly with premium formats getting the preference in terms of opening up.

There are 2 more days to go and it should reach 3.50 lakh at least and maybe even hit 4 lakh which is a very good number but its pre Diwali and the pace in current will be slower. This can be seen in the advances as states in North and Central India are seeing far lesser sales. Its just the Delhi / NCR area in the Northern and Central belt which can be called good. The business will be dominated by Maharashtra, South and West Bengal till Monday as Pre Diwali affects the business less in these areas.  

The comparison is going to be Dhurandhar - The Revenge as Ramayana is the biggest film ever made in India. The expectations will be of a 100 crore nett day across all versions but its unlikely the circumstances will allow that unless South goes crazy. Ramayana will have to wait for the 100 crore nett plus day till Monday and it can get it in Hindi alone content willing. 

If the film can get to the 60 crore nett mark for its Hindi version it would be a great result but no matter where the advances go you cant be sure of this as current will run slower than a normal day. It would NOT be surprise if the film comes out under 60 crore nett due to the circumstances where many circuits will see limited collections. The release in South India for Hindi is also looking weak but that will change on second day but it should not be the case as Hindi version is likely to dominate South as well from the start. The advances in non nationals have a lot of catching up to do as they opened just a few days while most single screens can be discounted till Monday. 

The film should do well but the pressure is on due to these high budgets floating around and because of this even a blockbuster figure may not look good though obviously the budget is less than the lowest number out there for the budget. Its hard to understand why this is done as even if you feed a number which is a bit lower than what it is its still the biggest film ever in India.  Its not just Ramayana but many others as well and it makes little difference to the final result as the public does not care for the cost of numbesr just the content. In fact it does not even matter much if advances get 50k more than expected or less as for a film like this its about what happens on release and more importantly how the story unravels from Monday.  

Note - There has been a WEBSITE update after a longtime and there may well be misssing data at places due to the amount of data moved and other teething issues especially on the homepage. It may be online but its work in progress and will take a week or two to set right. There are changes in some numbers as calculations were earlier electonically processed in the same way for all films in a hurry but now its been patiently done manually as not all films went down to the interiors in the same way. It is minor changes from 1993-2005 and 2006-2007 is still to be done but these are like plus or minus 1-2% so can be done later.

The older numbers which were WRONG will be up there on pleny of websites if any wants to see them as many would have stolen those figures not knowing what is right or wrong. No figure on this site is taken anywhere from the internet and every number on site is our research and belongs to BOX OFFICE INDIA only. Overseas is Comscore numbers for many overseas territories so here can be some similarity with whats on the internet. The older films is not Comscore and numbers were there for UK and Middle East with the distributors which are used as well as the prints taken out overseas.

The website now brings in some of the older films and there cant be 50 or 60 ALL TIME BLOCKBUSTER films so only the cream over the last 100 years is given that verdict. The SUPER BLOCKBUSTER verdict was created here a few years ago and now ALL TIME SUPER BLOCKBUSTER has been created for SHOLAY (1975) as its a different level to any other film. The others are all time BLOCKBUSTERS and SHOLAY is an all time SUPER BLOCKBUSTER (one of a kind). There is also an ALL TIME GREATS sections which will get updated when more data is put into the website.

Bahubali - The Conclusion has been given ALL TIME SUPER BLOCKBUSTER also but that is not the HINDI film but the film released in all versions be it Hindi, Telugu, Tamil etc. The footfalls of South films have not been entered as yet due to a technical error which gives them an inflation adjusted number on Hindi ticket rates which is wrong. This will be done on a later date.

There are still many films to enter be it Hindi or other languages, past and present and they will be done gradually. By next Diwali there will be many more films in the database. There are South films there mainly the ones which did something in Hindi and more will be added here also but split by the language or the industry. As always the South films have been reported our way and and not one day made into or more.
