Punjabi films have come into their own in the Overseas markets this year with three films becoming huge grossers. Shadaa has put up the highest humbers ever if we take out Chaar Sahibzaade which had a heavy religious tone and did numbers in United Kingdom which may take a decade or more to surpass. After Shadaa it is the turn of Ardaas Karaan and Chal Mera Putt which have done big numbers.

Chal Mera Putt could in fact beat the numbers of Shadaa and be the top Punjabi film after Chaar Sahibzaade. This film has Pakistani artists in the film which has meant the business in United Kingdom has been given an extra push as their is a huge Pakistani community there. Shaada has beaten all Hindi releases in Canada and the way Chal Mera Putt is going in Australia it will beat all the Hindi releases barring Kabir Singh maybe. It should become the first Punjabi film to hit the A$1m mark in Australia. The top Punjabi Overseas grossers of all time are as follows.

1. Chaar Sahibzaade - $3,570,000

2. Shadaa - $2,650,000 apprx (42 days)

3. Angrez - $2,580,000

4. Manje Bistre - $2,490,000

5. Carry On Jatta 2 - $2,350,000

6. Ardaas Karaan -  $2,300,000 apprx (17 days)

10. Sardaarji = $2,020,000

There is a difference in the worldwide business though as Ardaas Karaan and Chal Mera Putt are not big in India. Ardaas Karaan has done decent business in India but is well below the expectations from the film. The film will probably finish around 10.75 crore nett.

Chal Mera Putt has not fared well in India and will probably not even reach the 7 crore nett mark. The pluses of these films in Overseas are a negative for the domestic market. Both films are set in overseas which make them less relatable to the domestic audience. The films have to be based in India to get the huge numbers in the home markets like a Carry On Jatta 2 and Shadaa. The all time worldwide numbers for Punjabi films are as follows.

1. Carry On Jatta 2 - 57,67,00,000

2. Shadaa - 52,75,00,000 apprx (42 days)

3. Chaar Sahibzaade - 45,96,00,000

4. Sardaarji - 38,62,00,000

5. Manjhe Bistre - 31,74,00,000

6. Qismat - 31,28,00,000

7. Angrez -30,68,00,000

8. Jatt & Juliet 2 - 27,95,00,000

9. Ardaas Karaan - 27,50,00,000 apprx (17 days)

10. Muklawa - 25,52,00,000

Chal Mera Putt is at 20.50 crore apprx worldwide after ten days so may just get into top ten if overseas markets continue to hold for the next 2-3 weeks.
