Shehzada has seen low advances since they opened over the weekend and it will probably be a 1.50 crore nett advance for the film before release and it was expected that results would be better post Pathaan but it looks like pretty much as before. 

Antman And The Wasp has good advances but maybe not upto the mark expected from the Marvel brand which is very advance lopsided due to the larger screen formats. The advance of the film may finish close to the advance of Wakanda Forever and then its about how current goes but like all Marvel films the weekend should be good at least.

There has been this tendency to open advances early for Hindi films post the pandmeic and basically this MUST stop unless the film is an event film which should have urgency for tickets but even that is not certain. There was a time when advances used to open on Wednesday and this was when the audience pool was larger so today when the footfalls are less advances should not be opening earlier.

The industry must understand that the advance hardly matters because when there is little urgency with the audience and there will hardly be any sales and its not a good sign for people to see empty halls if they want to book as it does not take much for minds to change. Obviously it is hard to judge which film will have demand and which will not but even here the best bet is late opening as you can rack up the same advance in one or two days as you would in 5-6 days and that has been proved by the results of Gangubai Kathiawdi and Ek Villain Returns. 

There are films like Drishyam 2 and Bhool Bhilaiyaa 2 which got good advance results but these results would have come with two days advance as well. The simple fact is that in one or two days advance the sales will run faster which gives momentum.. Advance being open so early and having no sales just paints a bad picture of a film and sometimes the content may even be decent but this picture is hard to erase.

There have to be many changes in the film industry but this one can be done easily and is of much importance. The advance of most films should be opening on Wednesday and actually it will be no harm to start loading up on Thursday before release as this eliminates the negativity which comes with poor advances which most films will get. If the film is going to work it will work without an advance and even if an event film like Pathaan opened advance late it would still have got the business it got as within two days of release everything evens itself up. Hopefully the trend of opening advances the weekend before release barring some exceptions STOPS now.
