The Holi release Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar opened advances late on Saturday evening and is seeing a pretty good response. The advances are good where it is a holiday especially in the NCR belt while other areas are seeing a decent response.
There has not been much happening at the box office post Pathaan but this film has chances to get the box office going again. The Holi affect will be more limited than normal as Maharashtra, Rajasthan and West Bengal get the Holi holiday a day before release but that only means the opening day will be less in these pockets and the content is there these circuits will make up ground after the first day.
The film has two solid songs and maybe the makers missed a trick by launching the campaign with the Tere Pyaar Mein song before the theatrical trailer as the trailer had an urban feel so best to hold back and let the audience make decisons with the music.
The momentum at the moment is good to decent and hopefully with a strong Tuesday it will go into the good bracket. The film will only have an advance for three days which is a good decision as films which are not event films or may have less appeal for masses in Hindi circuits should not be risking advances opening 6-7 days before release.
The target is probably for the advance to sell around 70k tickets at the national chains for day one and this would be a good result and a total advance of 5 crore nett plus for the extended weekend..
