Article 370 is looking a superb advance as it gained momentum on Wednesday and its looking to sell over 80k tickets at the national multiplexes and it would be no surprise if this goes to 1 lakh. The number of tickets sold is being propelled by the cinema lovers day across multiplexes with a discounted 99 rate but even allowing for that the film would have taken a good advance.
Also the film is far ahead of the other films which also have the same advantage so it points to some interest out there for the film. The incentive here is from the exhibitors side for all films (new and holdovers) and is there for one day but then the way business is going today it would be no surprise if some incentive comes from the producers side.
The offer will benefit all the films out there but it will also mean more of the weekend audience will watch the film on Friday. There is no doubt that Article 370 is going to put up a very good first day and go far higher than expectations but these sort of films which deal with such issues and have support of the ruling party always have a chance of scoring at the box office and as has been seen before a couple of them have gone onto phenomenal numbers.
Article 370 has good chances of emerging that first major HIT of the year but will be about where the film goes post the weekend.
