The Telugu film Devara has been smashing records with its advance in the South mainly the home market Nizam / Andhra but the Hindi version opened advances only yesterday and the response was not so great. It was not a zero advance as mass pockets did see some response so those Hindi circuits on the day like CPCI, Gujarat, Bihar and Odisha should bring in some numbers on the day. The single screen collections should be better.

Also there is one more day of advance left which should run faster especially closer to release. The Telugu version is huge in Nizam / Andhra where its looking to beat the 50 crore nett of Kalki which is the second best number there after RRR. The all India day one of Kalki was 85 crore nett plus and that will be a tough as the Hindi version will be far less so if its to reach that number it has to well past Kalki in the South markets. 

It is a similar story to Kalki with Nizam / Andhra huge and Mysore / Karnataka very good while the other two (TN and Kerala) are less which was the case with Kalki. The leading male star N.T. Rama Rao Jnr was in RRR and which proved a huge blockbuster in Hindi but it was not a Bahubali which enabled Prabhas to become a big star enabling Saaho to take a huge opening which took it to HIT status despite the film being pretty average. The numbers were shocking on the positive side for a South Indian star in markets like Delhi / UP and East Punjab.

The longer run of the film will also depend a lot on the Hindi version as well as the collections in the South will be frontloaded so it remains to be seen how the film goes when it opens tomorrow. It was never an opening film in Hindi so its good that advances opened late and this should be done more with original Hindi films which open on Monday or even the weekend and dont gather any momentum.
