Sikandar collected 25 crore nett on its first day which is a an average collection especially for a film with huge expecatations though these expectations are misplaced as these are due to the star but its a changed a scenario today as there are limitations if the trailer or music cannot generate interest with the public. The film was never going to smash the box office but if it could have got to the 30 crore nett mark it would have been a good collection. It just could not build up momentum be it in advances or the first day.
The film had huge potential in terms of release which was the biggest ever as it reached almost every cinema possible for a Hindi film but that does not matter much unless the public is there to come out.. The opening is the biggest of the year in most circuits even though the all India number is less than Chhaava due to the Maharashtra factor but that also hardly matters as its Sunday release which should have done better.
The performance of the film is a mixed bag with that core Hindi mass circuits not giving the collections as they should and collections being better in the likes of Mysore and West Bengal / Odisha which should not be the case with a film in this zone. Gujarat and the central belts see lackluster collections. The NCR belt has done decent propelling Delhi / UP to a near 5 crore total despite a low UP due to Eid. UP should do well from Monday for 3-4 days at least especially the Muslim centres.
The opening day results are basically on the lines of Dunki and Fighter but those films opening better in the bigger centres is according to their content as lesser mass appeal. Here with Sikandar also showing likes of Delhi NCR, Kolkata and Bangalore with better collections is an issue as the Hindi circuits should lead. It could be due to how Eid is playing out so time will tell but if Central and Western India does not do better it will be a struggle for the film to even have half decent numbers.
The results are better than the last two Eids but again thats not saying much as it was Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan and Bade Miyan Chote Miyan / Maidaan.
