Sitaare Zameen Par advances opened Wednesday evening and the response is muted which is not surprising even though the film has the presence of Aamir Khan. This is as the content has limited appeal mainly for metro audiences and you are not going to get big numbers on day one catering to this audience especially in todays scenario but if the film has merits then this audience will come post the initial.

The promotion of the film has been all over the place with the film not really being promoted but another issue being highlighted. In domestic box office terms there is an issue facing the three ruling Khans which was not there 10-15 years ago but basically you have to find a way of getting around it and the first step is better cinema and actually maybe the only step as a good film will find an audience irrespective of the hurdles. The issue of the patriotism and loyalty of the main lead is actually not even the issue as far as the box office goes.

The film has a plus that its a sequel of Taare Zameen Par which did well when it was released but its hardly a film with reach or huge appreciation by the wider audience so sequel value will be limited though no doubt you would rather have that brand value than not as Kesari 2 proved a couple of months back.  

The film is a remake of some Spainish film Champions which released in 2018 and its likely some of the target audience which are the metros may have already seen this film and on top this remake thing puts a huge added burden on the film has the rights did not come cheap. The content of the film is actually pretty much in the Srikanth zone with something extra for kids but with the presence of Aamir Khan the film will have to do 3-4 times that film to be seen as a solid success and for that the Saturday improvement will have to be huge.
