Toxic (Hindi) has taken a fantastic opening and created history for dubbed South films as there has been nothing like this unless they have been sequels where the appreciation for the first part is driving the collections and here with Toxic there is no such thing. The expectations were of around 30 crore nett potential when the trailer hit but its going far above that.
The advances suggest a 40 crore nett total at the very least but in some of the mass circuits its going to challenge some of the highest figures ever on record with Odisha and Bihar looking the most likely candidates especially the former. The advances were less in Maharashtra which drives the South dubbed films but the opening in Thane and other key Maharashtra centres is very good and with a strong Gujarat it looks like a potential 15 crore nett day in Mumbai circuit.
The trailer of the film had scale and violence and the biggest plus is that it did not look like a South Indian film from any angle which is a huge factor when a film is not a sequel. In a sequel it does not much as the public would have accepted the look and feel of the film. There were minus points like the film did look a bit on the dark side and it seems a world in Goa which does not have a good record at the box office especially in the Northern circuits. But this is now all post release as the big initial has come.
The opening of the film is also fantastic in Nizam / Andhra and the home market of Mysore / Karnataka. The film has a shot at a 100 crore nett first day in all versions which so far has only been done by Pushpa 2, RRR, KGF 2 and Bahubali - The Conclusion. A all time top five opening day is certain in all versions and it remains to be seen where it stands with these films and if it gets up 100 crore on the board.
