Manikarnika - The Queen Of Jhansi did well on Sunday as it collected 14-15 crore nett on Sunday and it will be a healthy weekend of around 40 crore nett but the problem is this has come on a big holiday weekend and take out the holiday factor and then you are looking at business in the same range as other female driven films like Veere Di Wedding and Raazi.
The difference being that Veere Di Wedding and Raazi were made at less than half the cost of Manikarnika - The Queen of Jhansi. The drop will be in the 15-20% range from Saturday which is par for the course and it would be in a better position if the drop was in the 5-10% range.
The problem going forward will be that Maharashtra, Gujarat and Nizam / Andhra have not appreciated the film and these markets are sure to struggle in the long run but there is still hope in other areas and the next few days will tell what sort of appreciation the film has in places like Delhi / UP, Rajasthan and East Punjab.
Thackeray (Hindi) has not done well. The collections are better in Maharashtra but still cant be good as exhibitors change to the Marathi version which despite having no growth from day one has done very well as it opened strongly.
