The mega budget Ramayana - Rise Of A Legend opened very well despite a Thursday release and pre Diwali. The limitations are there due to the release date and its doing pretty much as expected. Although you always hope maybe with such a big film those poor Diwali areas may actually perform but its always the same story as the much of the film going audience is preoccupied.

The opening is weak in the likes of Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Punjab and most of UP while parts of East India and South do better. The disspointment is the release given to the Hindi version in South as this could have propelled the Hindi number by a few crore but precedence has been given to the regional versions.

It would be great result for the film if it can come out with a 50 crore nett total in Hindi but it wont be easy as the circuits which have not opened well will just crawl through the day. The film is a mega budget film but it is more of a multiplex film in the Hollywood way for the families rather than that mass film for the male mass crowd and if this crowd was penetrated then maybe collections could have been a little better despite it being pre Diwali.

The film has a long four day weekend before the actual level of the comes out with Friday and Sunday likley to be the weaker days and hopefully Saturday comes out best especially if the first day stays below 50 crore nett. The film has seen a good release in various regional versions and the opening can be called good considering its an original Hindi film which dont have much a market but for the release the collections are not good. Also the Kannada version should have been much better considering Yash Gowda who plays Raavan is a big star there.
