Kalki 2898 AD has seen a very good first day which is the highest of the year as it collects in the 22-23 crore nett range beating the collections of Fighter by around 5-10% which was the best before Kalki 2898 AD. In terms of South film openings in Hindi it will be fourth best ever after KGF 2, Bahubali - The Conclusion and Saaho.

The start is solid all over especially the Central circuits where it has beaten the records of Fighter and Shaitaan whichever was best by a margin. It looks a similar story in Bihar. The slightly lesser circuits seem to be West Bengal and Assam but for a dubbed film even the numbers can be called pretty good.

The film faced competition of the big cricket match in the evening which would have affected the film but still it has comfortably managed to cross the 20 crore nett mark. This is also a Thursday release which is not a holiday and there is no holiday the next day also so get this high is very good sign. 

The film was not promoted much especially if we compare to the likes of RRR, Bahubali - The Conclusion or Saaho and the film was not really expected to go above the 20 crore nett especially after the first trailer but it has penetrated well enough into the heartland which very few original Hindi films are able to do. Yes the collections at the high end cinemas of PVR and a few other premium properties are less than Fighter but that hardly alters the overall picture. 

The all India collections on all formats look like settling in the 90-100 crore nett range and its likely to be among the top three / four of all time as the KGF 2 number of 105 crore nett looks a step too far.
