The new release of the week Ground Zero could not do much at the box office as it collected around 1.10-1.20 crore nett. The film could not have better timing as it seems to have an angle on Pakistan / Kashmir issue and nothing can be more topical in India for the present day. But awareness was limited so the collections were not there. It managed to go over 1 crore nett so the film being topical for present day may have actually helped but to a limited amount.

This is a Friday when a film like Border 2 needed to be unleashed as there would those huge occupancies of decades gone on the huge releases of today but you need to be really lucky to get such timing to fit with the mood of the nation which then just obliterates the box office. As for ground Zero its a tough ride from this start.

The 1994 film Andaz Apna Apna saw a re release and collected around 20 lakhs nett which is pretty decent. The film did not do well when it was released in 1994 though some markets where comedies had a market did better especially Mumbai. The film is seen as a film that has passed the test of time but that is in industry and urban India only. The re release is probably to try and get a part two going but even if you somehow an Aamir Khan and Salman Khan it would still be a fight at the box office due to lack of mass appeal.

The top repeat run films have had plenty of feeding and the reason for that is to get second parts going but here Andaz Apna Apna has a clean chit and whatever its worth this 20 lakh is genuine collection.
