Shaitaan had a good opening for a film of its zone which is story driven rather than the commercial elements as its devoid of music and action. The target today is a double digit number when there is a star like Ajay Devgn involved which may not be a huge number but its enough for a film like this to score from as if content is there then films are running long.
The advances of the film were around 25% less than Drishyam 2 but there is a holiday for Mahashivratri and this is a pretty good holiday in most of the key states. Maharashtra, Gujarat, North and Central is generally a holiday. The main circuit where there seems not to be a holiday is West Bengal but a film with black magic and that should do well there anyway. The holiday factor should cut into this gap in the advances on the day with Drishyam 2.
The film should do best in Mumbai circuit belt eventually as the circuit is doing much better now as compared to the past two years and though it may look lin the thriller / horror zone the family angle should push in the circuit. The caveat is thats its a remake of a Gujrati film so how it goes in this state in the long run is hard to say as many may have seen the original film.
There was another release also Tera Kya Hoga Lovely but that could not register as there hardly woudl be anyawareness of teh film.
