Maa has seen a decent weekend though could have done with a better trend over the weekend. The film has collected 17.50 crore nett which compares well with a bigger film like Deva which did 19 crore nett. The collections are also good for female led film but they have come more because of genre than star presence.

The film has probably suffered somewhat in the bigger centres with Sitaare Zameen Par and F1 being the first choices. It is a different target audience but it becomes about having screenings in the right time slots and that becomes difficult with two other strong films. Still the weekend is good enough if the film can get a hold on Monday and run well through the week. Circuits like West Bengal and Odisha saw the best business due to the genre. F1 did good business over the first weekend with collections of 20.75 crore nett as all metros scored. The film even managed to get similar growth as the Hindi films on Sunday which is rare for Hollywood film and especially for a film which has such a high ratio of business coming from the metros.
