Kalki 2898 AD (Hindi) has taken a very good opening and its the best of 2024 for any film in Hindi. The previous best is Fighter which collected 20.50 crore nett on its first day and here Kalki 2898 AD will easily surpass that figure and that is even allowing for the big cricket match in the evening. More importantly mass circuits are far higher than Fighter which straight away signals a far wider interest in the film.

The Fighter opening was decent only as the difference here is there is limited business in the South for Kalki 2898 AD (Hindi) so occupancy is far better. Both films are a Thursday release but Fighter was a day before a big holiday while with Kalki 2898 AD there is no holiday. Kalki 2898 AD (Hindi) is that much needed boost that was needed for the box office across the Hindi circuits.

The film is another Prabhas film opening will in Hindi after Bahubali - The Conclusion, Saaho, Adipurush and Salaar. No doubt this guy is now the biggest star ever from the South in the Hindi regions surpassing Rajnikant. But the game has also changed now with huge budgets allowing a world to be created which will intrigue audiences all over rather than limiting to South which would be a case if films set in present day Hyderabad. When a world is created or a there is a rural setting other South actors will have chances of putting up big numbers in Hindi as this is something that Hindi film industry is unable to do today. An urban setting be in Hyderabad or Chennai will be a total no no.

The film has a futuristic angle which was the weak part of the trailer but there was less of this in the second trailer which worked better but its likely the first trailer of the film actually worked at some level as otherwise this opening would not have come. It remains to be seen how the film works but with an opening like this the film should prove to be a winner in Hindi at least. Also the fact there is some novelty compared to the regular Hindi content should aid the film.
