The advances of Sikandar opened yesterday night and are off to a good start as the natonal chains reach around 10k by around 1pm today. There is a long way to go but interest is there and it remains to be seen where the advances finally land. The campaign of the film was started with the music where the response should have been better but the final unit which was the trailer was better.

The film has huge expectations and will be down to the star power of Salman Khan to meet these expectations due to the music or trailer not reaching the levels which are needed for an event film. The Sunday release does not help either but its probably better to come on Sunday than Friday as to the way Eid is playing out especially for a genre like this as three days before the big national holiday is probably too risky in the current box office scenario. 

The industry needs an opening day on Eid as the last two Eid's with Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan, Bade Miyan Chote Miyan and Maidaan were pretty much a disaster.  The advance of Sikandar ensures this will be a far better Eid so thats a start but the industry badly needs a huge HIT.

Chhaava continues to do well as it heads for business of over 15 crore nett in its sixth week and this will mean a six week total of around 545 crore nett and it will still have a Friday and Saturday to collect before Sikandar so a 550 crore nett total looks there for the film.
