Housefull 5 has taken a good opening in most circuits and the opening is better than the advances which suggest finally there is some momentun and its good that it has come on the day of release. The advances of the film was a tedious affair as in almost six days it was a slow pace. The advance of the film finished generally a little short of Raid 2 with national chains edging past but outside was generally less.

The film probably has a chance of going past the Raid 2 numbers though as that was released on a holiday the single screen buisness will be less and Maharashtra will be less for sure be it singles screens or multiplexes. Basically the film now has a chance to put up the 20 crore nett number which did not look likely with the advances and at worst it will be the best opening for the franchise beating the 17 crore nett number for Housefull 4 though that was a pre Diwali release and the bigger business was on the weekdays for that film.

The plusses for the film are that its an established franchise, good teaser and a hit song with Lal Paree though the trailer could have better. The film has two versions which will not help the box office and has probably adversly affected the advances.

Although higher numbers were probably expected for the film it will still come out with the highest opening for the comedy genre outside a holiday. The opening day is a good platform to go and do good numbers over the weekend. The film will have support from the families like the previous films so this should be a plus in the longer run as long as the film has merits.

The advances of the film are good overseas and its pretty certain to be the biggest opening for an Akshay Kumar starrer there with excellent collections likely in Australia and Gulf. It will also easily be the biggest opening of this year in overseas be it the first day or weekend.
